Chinese racing-comedy "Pegasus 3" has turned its several shooting locations in Shanghai's Songjiang District into must-visit hotspots for fans, from amusement parks to racetracks.

"Pegasus 3," the third installment in director Han Han's racing-comedy franchise starring Shen Teng, one of China's most bankable comedic actors, generated over 2.93 billion yuan (about 413 million U.S. dollars).

The first two films in the series were released during the 2019 and 2024 Spring Festival seasons, grossing a combined 5 billion yuan.

In Pegasus 3, Happy Valley Shanghai is where main characters came after a crushing defeat in the rally semi-finals. The teacup ride was their way to spin off the pressure and realign for the fight back.

"I came here because I watched the 'Pegasus' movies. The plot was so gripping and powerful. I'm really looking forward to the next sequel," said Sophia Ge, a visitor.

The passion for speed is deeply personal for director Han Han, a racing driver who once studied in Songjiang District. He brings elements of his own life into the film, drawing on the victories, setbacks, and experiences he encountered to create an authentic motorsport story.

"All the vehicle modifications in the Pegasus movie trilogy were conducted by Xingsu Sports. Team Pegasus handled every modification for the trilogy. We are a union of the Shanghai Volkswagen 333 Team and Subaru Rally Team China - where Director Han Han himself competed as a professional driver. We've known each other for a long time. Therefore, we understand his demands in vehicles very well," said Jason Shao, motorsport consultant of Pegasus movies trilogy.

The car racing mania is taking shape in the Sheshan National Tourist Resort, where motorsport is becoming part of the landscape. It reinforces Shanghai's position as a racing hub, home to China's first Formula One driver, Zhou Guanyu, who also made a surprise appearance in the film.

"I'm just really proud to be the representative of the motor sports, lets say, an iconic background for my country. And hopefully there will be more younger drivers that can build on their dreams and continue to achieve their dream," said Zhou.

A freight train and a bus collided in Bangkok, Thailand, on Saturday afternoon, killing at least eight people, local media reported.

At around 15:40, a train collided with a bus at a railway crossing in Ratchathewi District, triggering a fire accompanied by an explosion. Several other cars and motorcycles were also involved.

More than 20 people were injured, according to the Thai transport ministry, as rescuers rushed to the scene to put out the fire and carry out rescue operations.

Deputy Minister of Transport Siripong Angkasakulkiat said in an interview with Thai media that the bus had stopped at the railway crossing due to a red light, preventing the railway barrier from lowering. The freight train was too heavy to brake in time, leading to the collision.
