Former Croatian President Ivo Josipovic hailed China's peaceful foreign policy and the four global initiatives proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, highlighting their potential to positively shape the global landscape.

In an interview with China Media Group (CMG) that aired on Friday, Josipovic said China's consistent advocacy against war, as well as its continued efforts to expand opening-up, have earned recognition in the international community.

"Firstly, I really appreciate the foreign policy of the People's Republic of China because it's peaceful. That's the most important thing. So China is not involved in wars all around, not initiating military corps here and there, and that makes Chinese position as very good in the international community. So, probably that is the reason this initiative by president Xi is very (much) occupying all these media in the interest of a wide (audience)," said the former Croatian president.

"Secondly, China is more and more opening. That's, of course, of interest for economy, but also for politics, for peace all around the world. And I hope and I support this type of peaceful policy. And I think that it will be very good that some other states also have this type of politics, not to interfere in wars or not to cause wars all around the world," he added.

Josipovic further highlighted that the four global initiatives, namely the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative, stand to play a pivotal role in the United Nations and its efforts to promote peace and development.

"Definitely, I see those initiatives as some kind of continuation of politics in China, and not only in China, connected to the United Nations' existence and United Nations' role in the previous, unfortunately previous, international global order, and also its focus to the peace and development. That's very important. All of them are programmatic. That means an attempt to influence states and politicians all around the world to switch activities more to cooperation, development, especially from climate changes to peace efforts. That means its a huge scale of proposals, and that's very good. I'm sure that it will influence, those initiatives will influence, and China is a patient state. If China continues to promote, not only these proposals by President Xi, but also some other peaceful activities and politics in the world, it will influence a lot to the global situation," he said.

Iran's Imam Khomeini International Airport resumed operations on Saturday, with passengers scheduled to depart for Medina in Saudi Arabia, Muscat in Oman and Istanbul in Türkiye, Iran's ISNA News Agency reported.

Iran shut down its airspace after joint U.S. and Israeli strikes starting on Feb. 28, halting civilian aviation operations nationwide.

The country reopened its eastern airspace to international flights on April 18, with the gradual resumption of passenger flights at other airports since then.

Iran's Civil Aviation Authority has said that flight services will return to normal once technical and operational preparations by military and civilian authorities are completed.
