Over 1,000 positions were up for grabs in Xiamen City of east China's Fujian Province on Saturday as the city held a dedicated career fair for Taiwan-based university graduates, spanning full-time roles, internships and professional training placements.

The fair also featured joint policy briefings where local officials shared specialized talent initiatives and support programs aimed at facilitating the career growth of Taiwan youth.

"The policies offer comprehensive support through every stage of employment, which I find very appealing. For instance, the pre-employment housing security is a major benefit. Whether you are just starting out or advancing into a key professional role, the follow-up subsidies are a real draw," said a Taiwan student from Fujian Normal University.

A total of 92 enterprises participated in the event, presenting upwards of 1,000 vacancies to more than 280 aspiring students from the Taiwan region

"I believe Xiamen is an ideal city for people from the Taiwan region to settle down for a long term. In terms of language, culture and even the climate, it is very similar to the Taiwan region. My goal is to build a career here in the mainland, possibly in the finance or economics sectors," said a Taiwan student from Fudan University.

"Xiamen Airlines currently employs 136 flight attendants from the Taiwan region, and we aim to expand this team to over 1,000 in the coming years. We offer highly competitive compensation packages for flight attendants from the Taiwan region," said Liu Li, recruitment manager from Xiamen Airlines.

Footage filmed at the Dujiangyan base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda (CCRCGP) shows giant pandas testing and gnawing on oversized bamboo shoots in a series of lively reactions.

In the first and second clips, female panda Ji Fu, and in the third, female panda You You, are seen eating bamboo shoots while perched in trees, stretched out on the ground, or rolling with them, each posture adding to the lively display.

Ji Fu, born on August 6, 2022, at the Shenshuping base of the Wolong National Nature Reserve in Sichuan to mother Cui Cui, weighed 270.4 grams at birth, the heaviest captive‑born panda cub on record. Her counterpart, You You, was born in September 2021 at the CCRCGP to mother Xiu Qiu.

The CCRCGP has built the world's largest captive panda population and pioneered rewilding research through captive breeding and training. It also runs a global cooperation platform, linking 18 zoos in 16 countries and regions with 39 domestic breeding institutions and more than 10 research institutes.
