A China-Malaysia readers' forum on the English edition of the fifth volume of "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China" was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

Participants at the event said the fifth volume embodies development experience and governance philosophy representing Eastern wisdom. Against the backdrop of evolving geopolitical dynamics and profound changes in the global governance system, they noted that in-depth exchanges on governance through the dissemination of the book between Malaysia and China carry great significance for strengthening mutual trust and win-win cooperation, and for advancing the building of a high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future.

In his remarks, Johari Abdul, speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives, said the book helps various sectors in Malaysia better understand China's development philosophy and governance practices.

The five volumes of 'Xi Jinping: The Governance of China' represent an effort to articulate a governing philosophy, one that seeks to explain how a nation understands its development, its priorities and its role in the world. It provides insight into how these ideas are framed and communicated, said Johari.

Malaysia's Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said that the important discussions in the fifth volume on high-quality development, high-level opening-up and high-quality Belt and Road cooperation provide important insights for deepening Malaysia-China connectivity.

He added that in recent years, the two countries have achieved fruitful results in high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

Ian Neo Chee Hua, CEO of the Southeast Asia Research Center for Humanities in Malaysia, said the book contains rich political philosophy guiding China's economic and social development and its relations with the world, laying an important foundation for the continued strengthening of Malaysia-China cooperation.

As the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) promotes implementation and the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA) 3.0 advances, Malaysia-China relations are entering a new stage of coordinated development, with broad prospects for cooperation in trade, investment, digital economy and green development, he said.

At the event, Chinese representatives presented copies of the English edition of the fifth volume to foreign guests. Experts and scholars held in-depth exchanges on topics including national governance, China-Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) regional cooperation, and the China-Malaysia community with a shared future.

The event was jointly organized by the State Council Information Office of China, the China International Communications Group, and the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia. About 200 participants from publishing, think tanks, and media sectors of both countries attended the event.
