Israel launched a series of airstrikes on Gaza on Wednesday, killing at least five people and severely wounding the son of a senior Hamas official, according to Palestinian sources.
An Israeli drone attack on Wednesday evening targeted a crowd near a bus station in Jabalia near Gaza City in northern Gaza, killing at least one people and injuring several others, said Gaza's health authorities. Azzam Khalil Al-Hayya, the son of Hamas's chief negotiator Khalil Al-Hayya, was seriously wounded.
Israel's airstrike on a tent sheltering displaced people in the Zeitoun neighborhood, southeastern Gaza City, killed three, Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal and local eyewitnesses said.
Another airstrike targeting a civilian vehicle in the Al-Mawasi area of southern Gaza's Khan Younis killed one and injured several others, according to the Civil Defense.
The Israeli military has not commented on the incidents.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Hamas condemned Israeli forces' escalating attacks on civilians in the Gaza Strip in blatant violations of a ceasefire agreement, international law, and humanitarian principles.
It accused Israel of continuing genocidal war against the people of Gaza and called on the United States, guarantor states, and relevant UN agencies to take immediate action to stop Israeli forces' violations and protect the Palestinian people.
A total of 837 Palestinians have been killed and 2,381 others injured since the ceasefire came into effect on Oct. 10. The death toll has risen to 72,619, with 172,484 injured, since the outbreak of the war on Oct. 7, 2023.
