Chinese brands gain more international recognition

Chinese brands are gaining wider international recognition as their products become more popular among overseas consumers with advanced technologies, creativity and cultural flair.

A wave of cutting-edge products is hitting shelves and online stores these days, including new-generation foldable smartphones, smart glasses, and panoramic cameras. Crowds of domestic and international consumers line up for hands-on experiences and early purchases.

"There are a lot of technologies, too much information to process -- to be honest -- too many things. So, it's kind of difficult for me, but it's a good impression though," said an Italian shopper at the Huaqiangbei electronics market in Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province.

At the Haitong International Automobile Terminal in Shanghai's Waigaoqiao Port, over 4,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) are rolling onto ships bound for overseas markets every day.

In the first four months of 2026 alone, more than 400,000 Chinese NEVs departed from this single port to go abroad -- a clear sign of growing popularity of Chinese brands.

Beyond consumer electronics and NEVs, Chinese heavy machinery producers have also accomplished remarkable feats. The country's first homegrown large cruise ship, the Adora Magic City, has already served nearly 700,000 passengers, while China's self-developed C919 passenger jet is expanding its commercial routes, and its super-large-diameter tunnel boring machines and CR450 bullet trains keep breaking world records. Chinese brands are capturing hearts by blending traditional culture with modern lifestyle, with new Chinese style clothing, China-Chic products, and smart home appliances flying off shelves.

The number of China's time-honored brands reached 1,455 by the end of 2025. New Chinese brands are rapidly emerging and growing. And China's intelligent manufacturing is becoming fashionable abroad. In Australia, Chinese refrigerators with transparent windows that allow users to check food without opening the door are selling well. In the Middle East, air conditioners that can operate even when outdoor temperatures hit 68 degrees Celsius are also seeing good market.

"We have set up 30 research and development centers and 37 industrial parks and manufacturing bases worldwide to achieve local research and development and local production. This year, our overseas orders for smart home appliances have grown more than 20 percent," said Fang Xueyu, head of Chinese home appliance maker Hisense Group's international marketing center.

In the first quarter of the year, China's foreign trade in goods hit a record high, with cross-border e-commerce imports and exports reaching 818.46 billion yuan (about 120 billion U.S. dollars).

The Iranian armed forces on Sunday released footage showing a wave of drone attacks on two U.S. military installations in Kuwait, as a senior Iranian military figure vowed a "devastating response" to "any barbaric acts" by the United States.

The Iranian Army have carried out two phases of operation against the American military assets, said the semi-official Tasnim news agency quoting a military statement released on Sunday.

The forces targeted the American ammunition depot at Camp Udairi as well as Patriot radar and air surveillance radar systems at Ali Al-Salem Air Base, employing explosive drones, in the earlier phase, according to the report.

In the following phase of operation, it again targeted the ammunition depot at Camp Udairi, along with equipment storage facilities and personnel shelters at Ali Al-Salem Air Base, said the report.

Ali Abdollahi, chief commander of Iran's main military command Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, issued a statement on Sunday, vowing that the Iranian armed forces will deliver a "decisive and devastating response" to "any barbaric acts" by the United States.

In addition to the U.S. bases in Kuwait, the Iranian armed forces also launched a flurry of missile and drone attacks against U.S. military bases and facilities inside Bahrain and Jordan over the past few days, in response to fresh U.S. strikes against Iran's southern provinces.

Friday's attacks killed two American service members and left another missing in Jordan, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a press release on Saturday.

Following the killing of the two American troops, the U.S. forces launched their eighth consecutive night of strikes on Iran later on Saturday to "swiftly punish" the country, CENTCOM said in a post on X.
