Heavy rain hits southwest China's Chongqing

Dazu District in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality issued a blue alert for rainstorms on Thursday, as downpours caused water accumulation and disrupted traffic.

From Thursday night to Friday morning, heavy rains drenched the district, with maximum hourly rainfall reaching 22 mm and the maximum cumulative rainfall totaling 65.3 mm.

China has a four-tier, color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow and blue.

Hong Kong's stock market ended lower Friday with the benchmark Hang Seng Index down 1.62 points to close at 25,962.73 points.

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index dropped 1.89 percent to end at 8,691.03 points, and the Hang Seng Tech Index declined 2.66 percent to end at 4,941.14 points.
