A mainland spokeswoman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office on Wednesday refuted Taiwan authorities' remarks slandering People's Liberation Army (PLA) drills in the region.
Zhu Fenglian, the spokeswoman, made the remarks at a press briefing in response to Cho Jung-tai, head of Taiwan's executive body, who made wrongful remarks about PLA drills.
"The Democratic Progressive Party authorities stubbornly persist in the separatist stance and collude with external forces to provoke secession. This is the root cause of instability and the source of turmoil in the Taiwan Strait. We will never tolerate or condone any separatist activities. The military operations conducted by the PLA are a stern warning to separatist forces and external interference, and a necessary and just action to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity," Zhu said.
