Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin jointly met the press at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Wednesday after concluding their talks.
Noting that this is President Putin's 25th visit to China, Xi said that it fully demonstrates the high-level and special nature of China-Russia relations.
Describing his talks with Putin in-depth, friendly and fruitful, Xi noted that he conducted strategic communication with the Russian president on a series of major issues.
The two presidents signed a joint statement on further enhancing the comprehensive strategic coordination and deepening good-neighborliness and friendly cooperation between the two countries, and witnessed the conclusion of multiple documents on bilateral cooperation, according to Xi.
Xi said the two countries will issue a joint statement on promoting a multipolar world and a new type of international relations.
Noting that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination, Xi said that relations between the two countries, despite trials and hardships, have kept in pace with the times and been continuously elevated over the past three decades.
China-Russia ties have reached the highest level in history as a comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era and setting an example of a new type of major-country relations, Xi said.
This year also marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation, Xi noted.
Under the treaty, the two sides have always upheld the principle of non-alliance, non-confrontation and not targeting any third party, adhered to treating each other with equality and mutual respect, keeping promises and pursuing win-win cooperation, made important contributions to maintaining international fairness and justice and the building of a new type of international relations, and become a key constant amid the changes in the world unseen in a century, Xi said.
Xi said that under the strategic guidance of him and Putin, China and Russia relations have reached a new starting point, calling on both sides to follow the trend of the times featuring peace, development and win-win cooperation to achieve higher-quality development of bilateral relations.
Xi urged joint efforts to promote higher-quality political mutual trust, mutually beneficial cooperation and people-to-people bond between the two countries and promote higher-quality international coordination.
Putin said he is visiting China at a critical moment that marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Russia-China Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation, which laid the foundation for the comprehensive development of relations between the two countries.
Noting that the current Russia-China relations are at an unprecedented high level, Putin said the two countries have always upheld mutual respect, equality, mutual assistance and mutual support, and promoted the continuous and in-depth development of bilateral cooperation.
The development of Russia-China relations has a strong internal momentum, and cooperation between the two countries is not targeted at any third party and not affected by geopolitical changes, he said.
Putin said he had an in-depth exchange of views with Xi on a wide range of important issues concerning bilateral relations in a warm and friendly atmosphere, defining the direction for future cooperation.
Russia is full of confidence in the future of its relations with China, and will work with China to deepen partnership and good-neighborliness, strengthen people-to-people bond, and support each other in respective development and rejuvenation and the wellbeing of the people, he said.
Putin said Russia and China will maintain close strategic coordination on the international stage, jointly safeguard the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, and jointly maintain global security and stability.
