Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday emphasized the substantial expansion of bilateral ties with China and expressed his commitment to advancing cooperation on both bilateral and international levels.
Putin made the remarks during large-group talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping while he was paying a state visit to China, during which he expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality from the Chinese side.
Noting that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation Between China and Russia, Putin expressed his commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation on this basis.
"Twenty-five years on since the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation Between China and Russia, bilateral cooperation has expanded significantly. We also hope to continue in this spirit, jointly advancing bilateral cooperation and working together on the international stage," said Putin.
Putin vows to strengthen bilateral cooperation with China
Russian President Vladimir Putin left Beijing on Wednesday night, concluding his state visit to China.
During the visit, President Putin and President Xi Jinping held in-depth, friendly and fruitful talks, conducted strategic communication on a series of major issues, signed and issued the joint statement on further strengthening comprehensive strategic coordination and deepening good-neighborliness and friendly cooperation, and witnessed the conclusion of 20 cooperation documents in areas such as economy and trade, education, and science and technology.
The two sides also issued the joint statement on advocating a multipolar world and new type of international relations, and signed 20 cooperation documents in other areas. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation Between China and Russia. The two heads of state jointly decided to extend this treaty again.
At the invitation of Xi, Putin paid a state visit to China from May 19 to 20. This was Putin's 25th visit to China.
