The subforums of the just concluded 2026 China Internet Civilization Conference have highlighted the national efforts to squash online rumors to create a clean, healthy and sound online environment.

The conference, which was held in Nanning City of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Tuesday and Wednesday, brought together top government officials, tech leaders, scholars and influencers for an opening ceremony, a main forum and 14 subforums.

During one of the subforums on debunk online rumors, officials from the Illegal and Harmful Information Reporting Center of Cyberspace Administration of China said a dedicated reporting channel was established for netizens to report on rumors, especially those that spread pseudoscientific knowledge.

"To date, we have received 7,718 reports from netizens, which we have promptly forwarded to the relevant website platforms for coordination and handling," said Geng Duohua, director of the center.

Meanwhile, the Cyberspace Administration of China has also stepped up efforts to convey facts, spread scientific knowledge, and help the public obtain accurate and true information released by authorities. Since 2025, the administration has released 21,000 articles debunking rumors with a total of 820 million views.

The issue of debunking online rumors was also a hot top in subforum on optimizing online business environment. Many representatives from enterprises attending the forum urged more efforts to combat rumors to build a clean cyberspace.

"A healthier, more orderly, and fairer online environment is becoming increasingly important for innovative and entrepreneurial enterprises," said Li Bin, a business representative attending the forum.

According to Nanjing Customs in east China's Jiangsu Province, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) International Logistics Park in Lianyungang handled a record 240,500 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of cargo in the first four months of 2026.

This figure represents an increase of 8.02 percent compared with the same period last year.

From January to April, the total logistics volume of the park reached 30.3586 million tonnes, a year-on-year increase of 17.17 percent.
