The just-concluded 10th China-Russia Expo in Harbin, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, created a vibrant platform for business matchmaking and market exploration, bringing together participants from 46 countries and regions.
The expo is the largest and highest-level comprehensive event dedicated to China-Russia economic cooperation. Nearly 300 Russian companies participated, showcasing a wide range of products, including traditional handicrafts such as oil paintings and porcelain, as well as popular food items like chocolate and vodka.
A Russian exhibitor who speaks fluent Chinese and goes by the Chinese name Bai Dexuan engaged warmly with visitors. His lively booth promoted a wide selection of Russian products, including vodka, liqueurs, and gin.
"I've lived in China for quite a long time. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. If you're doing business here and don't know any Chinese, how can you communicate, right? The China-Russia Expo is held every year, and it's been very successful. Events like this greatly promote trade and cultural development between our two countries. I can do business and make friends at the same time," he said, when asked how he mastered Chinese.
These business professionals, who have lived and worked in China for years, helped enhance the bilateral ties with their language skills and market knowledge, contributing to a smoother and more efficient cross-border trade.
In addition to Russian products, exhibitors from Asia, Europe, and Africa brought their specialty goods to the expo.
Malaysian exhibitor Wu Lianbo highlighted the popularity of his products.
"We brought many products. The most popular is ice cream, besides durian," he said.
Running from May 17 to 21, the expo attracted over 1,500 enterprises from 46 countries and regions.
