Chinese stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.17 percent to 4,145.37 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.12 percent higher at 15,876.16 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices totaled 3.24 trillion yuan (about 474.46 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 3.2 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Sectors such as gold, non-ferrous aluminum, securities firms, and steel led the gains, while computing power leasing, semiconductors, military industry, and commercial aerospace were among the top decliners.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.54 percent to close at 4,043.07 points.
