Iran says main battleground with enemy has shifted to economy

Iran's main battleground with foreign adversaries has shifted to the economic and livelihood sectors, President Masoud Pezeshkian said Wednesday when meeting with representatives of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Pezeshkian noted that the private sector is bearing the brunt of the "economic war" waged by hostile forces.

He said the Iranian government is determined to remove obstacles and lay the necessary foundation for sustainable economic activity to strengthen national economic resilience.

Pezeshkian stressed that the private sector is not merely a partner but a core pillar of national strength, calling for coordinated efforts among the government, private sector, and other state institutions to resist external pressures.

Iran's intelligence ministry issued a statement on Wednesday accusing the United States, Israel and their allies of waging a long-term "hybrid war" against Iran.

It claimed the hostile forces have now shifted focus to hybrid warfare tactics, including economic pressure, stoking ethnic and religious tensions, border terrorist attacks, cyberattacks, and media manipulation, after military means failed to achieve their objectives.

The ministry vowed continued surveillance and strict action against espionage, terrorism, illegal communication device smuggling, and ethnic or religious incitement.

A playful giant panda - less than two years old - has been captured on camera climbing a tree and then resting on one of its branches at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda (CCRCGP) in southwest China's Sichuan Province.

In the video, the panda Xin Qiao climbed up the wooden frame and onto the tree. Then it crawled from the base of the tree to the branches and sat down to rest.

Xin Qiao was born in August 2024 at the Shenshuping base of the Wolong National Nature Reserve to mother Mei Mei.

The CCRCGP has built the world's largest captive population of pandas and pioneered rewilding research through captive breeding and training. It also runs a global cooperation platform that links 18 zoos in 16 countries and regions with 39 domestic breeding institutions and more than 10 research institutes.
