As of Tuesday, the total number of inbound and outbound passengers at Shanghai Pudong International Airport this year had exceeded 15 million, accounting for about one-quarter of the total passenger flow at China's airports and ranking first among all airports nationwide.

Among them, the number of foreign nationals reached 5.15 million, a year-on-year increase of 24 percent, and nearly 4.4 million mainland residents traveled abroad, with their destinations expanding from short-haul trips in East and Southeast Asia to long-haul destinations such as Australia and Northern Europe, according to Shanghai Airport Border Inspection Station.

The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, strengthened 46 pips to 6.8157 against the U.S. dollar Friday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System.

In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day.

The central parity rate of the yuan against the U.S. dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the opening of the interbank market each business day.
