South China is seeing intensified rainfall on Saturday, with heavy to torrential downpours expanding in provincial-level regions, including Guangxi, Guangdong, Hunan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang and Fujian.
The National Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert for rainstorms and a blue alert for severe convective weather.
China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system for rainstorm, with red representing the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
Authorities have warned of flooding risks as rainbands are lingering across southern provinces, raising disaster concerns in vulnerable areas.
The Ministry of Water Resources has launched a level-IV emergency response in seven provinces, while Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has also activated flood defenses from 09:00 on Saturday.
Meanwhile, northern and northeastern areas are experiencing showers and thunderstorms, with strong winds and hail in some places, according to weather forecast.
Temperatures are dropping in parts of three northeast provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, as well as Beijing and Tianjin, while hot weather persists in the northwest and central regions such as Xinjiang, Henan and Shaanxi.
Meteorological departments have urged the public to stay alert, avoid travel during peak rainfall, and take precautions against both flooding and heat.
