Gold, silver futures post significant rise

International gold and silver prices both rose significantly on Monday.

As of the close of trading, gold futures for August delivery rose 2.66 percent to settle at 4351.60 U.S. dollars per ounce on the New York Mercantile Exchange, while silver futures for July delivery gained 3.25 percent to close at 70.180 dollars per ounce.

The United Kingdom's FTSE 100 index dropped 0.39 percent to close at 10,430.62 points. France's CAC 40 index rose 0.40 percent to finish at 8,384.01 points. Germany's DAX index rose 1.05 percent to end the session at 24,894.01 points.
