China's STAR Composite Index closes higher Thursday

The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 3.29 percent higher at 2,297.92 points on Thursday.

The STAR 50 Index, which tracks the 50 largest stocks listed on the board that also meet certain liquidity requirements, closed 3.84 percent higher at 1,911.51 points.

The sci-tech innovation board, commonly known as the STAR Market, was inaugurated in June 2019 at Shanghai Stock Exchange. It is designed to support companies in the high-tech and strategic emerging sectors.

Hong Kong's stock market ended lower Thursday with the benchmark Hang Seng Index down 1.59 percent to close at 23,924.81 points.

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index fell 2.06 percent to end at 7,976.04 points, and the Hang Seng Tech Index fell 1.39 percent to end at 4,604.35 points.
