A dazzling international fireworks prelude show on Saturday lit up the sky over Zhuhai Chimelong International Ocean Resort, a popular theme park in Zhuhai City, south China's Guangdong Province.
The event drew crowds with brand‑new pyrotechnic effects and a 700‑drone light show, serving as the official prelude to the Hengqin Ocean International Fireworks Festival and marking the start of the summer tourism season.
The show featured brand‑new pyrotechnic effects and a drone light display that sketched glowing marine creatures and iconic landmarks, while laser lights and waterborne acrobatics blended to deliver an immersive audiovisual spectacle for visitors. "I came here from Huizhou today. The fireworks display was absolutely stunning. I'm still overwhelmed with excitement," said a tourist.
The Hengqin Ocean International Fireworks Festival is set to officially open on July 11 and will run through August 28, covering the entire summer break with 49 nights of spectacular aerial performances.
The event brings together top pyrotechnic teams from South Korea, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Italy and other countries, presenting a diverse lineup of world-class fireworks displays that blend artistic creativity with pyrotechnic expertise.
"To give our visitors a completely new fireworks experience, we have invited eight top international pyrotechnic teams. Building on our new pyrotechnic effects and incorporating 700 drones in formation, we have fully upgraded the show. I believe it will offer all tourists an experience unlike any other," said Gao Rui, deputy general manager of Hengqin Chimelong Resort.
Beyond the fireworks, Hengqin has unveiled new summer attractions, including a themed float parade, international cultural bazaars, and interactive fireworks zones. The diverse experiences are expected to offer visitors a unique cultural getaway by the sea in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
