Chinese President Xi Jinping met with visiting Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Beijing on Monday, to discuss relations between the two countries.

China and Belarus are true friends who trust and support each other, good partners in shared development and prosperity, and all-weather comprehensive strategic partners, Xi said, emphasizing that bilateral relations have withstood the test of changing international landscapes, achieved leapfrog development in recent years, and entered the best period in history.

The two countries enjoy rock-solid political mutual trust, have yielded fruitful results from high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, moved forward steadily in major cooperation projects, and realized highly effective multilateral cooperation, he noted.

Facts have shown that deepening all-weather, all-round cooperation between China and Belarus is in line with the historical trend and serves the fundamental interests of the peoples of both countries.

China and Belarus should maintain strategic communication, and promote continuous progress of bilateral relations that are already running at a high level to better benefit the peoples of the two countries, Xi stressed.

China supports Belarus in safeguarding its national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and in pursuing a development path that suits its own national conditions, Xi said, expressing China's willingness to continue to offer assistance to the best of its abilities for the development of Belarus.

The two countries should mobilize resources from various sectors to advance Belt and Road cooperation, and enhance coordination and cooperation within multilateral frameworks to serve as a stabilizing force in a turbulent world, Xi said. Lukashenko said he fully agrees with Xi's assessment of Belarus-China relations, adding that the comprehensive and in-depth practical cooperation between the two all-weather comprehensive strategic partners has provided important support for his country's economic and social development.

The Belarusian side attaches great importance to relations with China and looks forward to strengthening strategic communication, expanding areas of cooperation, and promoting further development of bilateral relations.

Lukashenko hailed Xi's four global initiatives, namely the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative, saying they promote political settlement of hot-spot issues and make significant contributions to world peace, stability and prosperity.

Belarus is willing to continue close coordination with China on international and regional affairs, and work together with China to promote peace, development, and stability of the world and the region.

The first clutch of Yangtze alligator eggs this year was discovered recently in the Anhui Chinese alligator national nature reserve in eastern China.

In the Zhongqiao area of the reserve in Jingxian County, Anhui Province, staff members found a nest of 32 fertilized eggs in good developmental status on June 20, marking the start of the wild breeding cycle for Yangtze alligators throughout the reserve.

To minimize human intervention, the staff have installed high-precision temperature and humidity meters inside the nest to monitor its micro-environment around the clock.

Infrared cameras have also been set up at concealed locations around the nest to record the behavior of the female alligator protecting the nest all day long, promptly preventing the invasion of natural enemies and achieving full-process intelligent monitoring.

The Yangtze alligator, which has lived on Earth for over 200 million years, is a protected species of first-class importance endemic to China. The species, also known as the Chinese alligator, lives along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the country's longest waterway.
