The 24th Chinese Peacekeeping Contingent to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) held a solemn flag-raising ceremony on Monday to celebrate the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
During the ceremony, the UN flag, the Lebanese national flag, and the Chinese national flag were raised in turn as the UN anthem, the Lebanese national anthem, and the Chinese national anthem were played. Dressed in their signature blue helmets, officers and soldiers attending the ceremony stood in neat rows, with upright posture.
Following the ceremony, the peacekeepers renewed their oath of joining the Party.
The 24th Chinese peacekeeping contingent consists of a multi-functional engineering unit, a construction engineering unit, and a medical unit.
Since its deployment, the contingent has been committed to undertaking multiple missions, including mine clearance, infrastructure construction, and medical aid. The peacekeepers have made concrete contributions to safeguarding local peace and security and have received recognition from the UN and local residents.
"The situation in southern Lebanon remains complex and volatile, and we need to stay on high alert at all times. On CPC's 105th founding anniversary, raising the flag and swearing oath here is both a spiritual motivation and a pre-battle mobilization as raising the national flag strengthens the morale of the contingent, while swearing oath clarifies the direction of our missions. I will take the lead in fulfilling the mission of a Party member, leading officers and soldiers to stay at their posts and remain vigilant. We will complete all peacekeeping tasks to the highest standard, spare no effort in safeguarding the peace in southern Lebanon, and live up to the trust and expectations of our motherland with outstanding performance," said Li Xiong, a member of the 24th Chinese Peacekeeping Contingent to the UNIFIL.

Representatives of outstanding Party members and Party workers have pledged to make greater contributions to serving the people and advancing national development after receiving honors at a gathering marking the 105th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Beijing on Wednesday morning.
Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, and other Party and state leaders presented awards to representatives of outstanding Party members, Party workers and primary-level Party organizations from across the country at the Great Hall of the People.
The honorees have vowed more efforts to stay true to the Party's founding mission by playing a leading role in community governance and improving people's livelihoods, and in particular, strengthening Party building in private enterprises and local neighborhood.
"I deeply understand that this honor is not just for an individual but should belong to all of us -- the aviation professionals who have long been making behind-the-scenes contributions. On the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Party, I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to remain true to our original aspiration and mission, and to strive for greater achievements for our country and the people," said Deng Jinghui, chief designer of the Z-20 Helicopter from the Aviation Industry Corporation of China.
"The Party members, deeply rooted in the community, play a leading and exemplary role. After their voluntary actions, our community residents followed, working in fields like garbage sorting, beautification project construction, parking duties, and the daily activities of the Women's Federation, as well as caring for disadvantaged families with elderly and children. All these have led to profound changes in our old and dilapidated community over the past five years," said Li Xiuqin, director of Changdao Residents' Committee in Shanghai.
"Next, we should place greater emphasis on Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building and remember instructions and forge ahead. We should then open up new prospects for the rich mineral resources in Guizhou, make new contributions to the security of national strategic mineral resources, and strengthen scientific and technological innovation," said Zhou Qi, chief scientist with the Bureau of Geology and Mineral Exploration and Development of Guizhou Province.
"I felt extremely excited. I believe this is an acknowledgment of our past work in Party building in internet enterprises, but it is also a motivation for us to continue doing a good job in creating a clean and healthy net environment in the future," said Dai Jianhong, vice president of the 4399 Network.
"What the General Secretary said reminded me of the path created by our predecessors. We will continue the path and continue to do a better job. As a village Party secretary at the grassroots level, I must help Party members to do things genuinely and thoroughly. They should ensure that every matter is handled well for the people and lead them to lead a better and happier life," said Xu Ling, director of a residents' committee in Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province.
According to the latest census, the CPC now has nearly 101.29 million members and over 5.43 million primary-level Party organizations.
