The Communist Party of China (CPC) has played an "instrumental" role in maintaining China's national unity while fostering rapid economic and technological progress, said Ali El-Hefny, a veteran Egyptian diplomat.
El-Hefny, former Deputy Foreign Minister of Egypt and current chairman of the Egypt-China Friendship Association, made the remarks as the CPC marks its 105th founding anniversary this year.
"The main thing that I would wish to stress on is that the CPC played an instrumental role in keeping the unity of Chinese. And when you say this, you think immediately about development, and the role that the CPC has played as far as maintaining the economic growth, trying always to increase that rate. But also it has made a very impressive advancement as far as technology is concerned, as far as the high-tech, the artificial intelligence,” said El-Hefny.
El-Hefny also praised the CPC's governance and its contributions to promoting global justice.
"We need the assistance in such a way that could promote that governance, the governance that we wish, the governance that we feel easy. But let me put also the focus here on whatever governance according to the Chinese perception, it's for justice, it's the openness, it's the equality among nations, it's the democracy as far as international relations are concerned," said El-Hefny.
He added that Egypt and other African nations have drawn valuable lessons from the Chinese experience, particularly in the eradication of poverty.
"We have learned in Egypt a lot out of the lessons that we draw from the Chinese experience, the Chinese model. For instance, the eradication of poverty, it has been really of a need for our countries in Africa, and China has helped in achieving tangible results," said El-Hefny.
Egypt was the first Arab and African country to recognize the People's Republic of China. Looking toward the future cooperation between Egypt and China, El-Hefny expressed great optimism, citing the good relationship between the two nations' leaders.
"The two heads of state, they maintain wonderful [relationship]. There is chemistry even between the two of them. Their perceptions as far as the international affairs and regional affairs are almost the same. We look at the future with a great deal of optimism. Why? China has become one of the main investors in Egypt. China invests almost 8 billion dollars in Egypt. China's enterprises have reached the number of 3,300 lately, and the number is increasing. So we are very optimistic about the future of our relationship, our cooperation, not just on a bilateral level, but between China and Africa, the horizons are quite wide, there is a lot to be done in this respect," said El-Hefny.
