Typhoon Bavi caused water levels to rise rapidly in the rivers of Zhuma Township, Jinhua City of east China's Zhejiang Province on Sunday, leading to flooding in multiple villages and prompting firefighters to rush to the scene to evacuate residents.

After receiving the emergency call, firefighters found that many residents in Dongzhai village in Zhuma were trapped by floodwaters and in urgent need of evacuation.

Local fire department immediately activated the flood emergency response plan, conducting door-to-door searches and rescues in different areas.

When firefighters arrived at Dongzhai village, the water had reached thigh-deep at its deepest points.

Using rubber boats and assault boats, they reached the trapped residents and transported them in batches.

At the health center in Zhuma, over 30 medical staff and patients were stranded, and the ambulances were unable to start due to the deep floodwaters. Upon arrival, firefighters quickly helped the trapped individuals onto rubber boats and escorted them to safety in batches.

After nearly two hours of rescue efforts, Jinhua firefighters had evacuated 125 residents.

The floodwaters in Zhuma have since receded, and the evacuated residents have gradually returned to their homes.

Typhoon Bavi, the ninth typhoon of the year, landed on the coast of Zhejiang at around 23:20 Saturday.
