Researchers in southwest China’s Yunnan Province have captured rare footage of over 360 black‑and‑white snub‑nosed monkeys, also known as Yunnan golden hair monkeys, moving together on the ground, a striking sight for a species that usually stays high in the trees.
In footage from the Yunling Nature Reserve, adult males led and kept watch, while mothers clutched their young as family groups called to one another before moving from the ground into the forest.
The endangered species, native to Yunnan and listed as a national first‑class protected animal in China, spends most of its time in trees, making such a large‑scale ground migration especially rare.
