U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday convened a meeting in the White House Situation Room to discuss "massive new Iran strikes", news website Axios has reported.

The meeting, came after the two sides exchanged strikes and reportedly attended by U.S. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, discussed strikes against Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz, with the debate revolving around "a new plan to deliver a devastating blow to Iranian strategic targets."

The U.S. Central Command issued a statement saying that as of 22:00 Eastern Time on Tuesday, the U.S. forces had completed a new round of strikes against Iran that lasted seven hours. They used fighter jets, drones, and naval vessels to strike dozens of military targets near the Strait of Hormuz and along the Iranian coast, including Iranian missile and drone sites, naval forces, and coastal defense systems.

Iranian media reported on Wednesday that Bandar Abbas, the capital of Hormozgan province in southern Iran, Qeshm Island, Hengam Island, and Hajiabad, were attacked by the U.S. forces. Air defense systems were activated around the Bushehr nuclear power plant in southern Iran.
