Iran releases footage of strike on "violating" vessel in Strait of Hormuz

Iran on Friday released footage of a drone strike on a "violating" vessel in the Strait of Hormuz earlier in the day.

A Thai-flagged vessel attempted to transit the strategic waterway without heeding warnings and without obtaining authorization from the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, sources familiar with the incident said.

The Iranian forces intercepted the ship and targeted it with a drone strike, according to the IRGC Navy's footage released by Iran's state-run IRIB TV.

Meanwhile, the IRGC warned that as long as the U.S. military continues its malicious actions in the region, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed.

The U.S. military has launched multiple waves of strikes against southern Iran over the past several days, claiming its attacks are in response to the Iranian armed forces' targeting of vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and are aimed at "degrading Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping".

Iran has responded with waves of missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. military bases and facilities across the region.
