Official introduces fresh achievements of China's industrial innovation

China's industrial innovation capacity has constantly enhanced this year, with open-source AI large models rendering over 10 billion global downloads, said an official from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in Beijing on Monday.

Wang Weiming, chief engineer of the ministry, briefed media on industrial innovation achievements at a press conference.

"We have deepened and expanded the AI Plus Initiative. Over 30 percent of manufacturing enterprises above the designated size are using AI technologies, and open-source large AI models have rendered more than 10 billion downloads globally in total. We are also speeding up the transition from research to services to industrial application, and launched the second batch of 111 pilot-scale testing platforms and accredited 14 top-tier and 402 standard-tier incubators for sci-tech enterprises," Wang said.

"We have also brought into full play the leading role of national major sci-tech programs in advancing core technologies in key fields and foundational technologies. The quantum computing prototype 'Jiuzhang 4.0' has set a new world record in photonic quantum information technology. The world's first invasive brain-computer interface (BCI) medical device has been approved to enter market," he said.

China is also fostering emerging and future industries through special actions to cultivate new growth drivers in these sectors, according to the official.

In the first half of the year, the added value of equipment manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing above the designated size rose by 9.3 percent and 13.3 percent year on year, respectively, while investment in emerging sectors such as computer and office device manufacturing, and aerospace and equipment manufacturing posted double-digit growth.

In the first five months, profits of "little giant" enterprises that apply special, sophisticated techniques to produce unique and novel products and high-tech industrial enterprises above the designated size both surged more than 20 percent year on year.

The China Coast Guard (CCG) has urged the Philippines to immediately stop infringements, provocations and groundless hype after Philippine personnel from an illegally grounded vessel aggressively harassed a small CCG patrol boat near China's Ren'ai Jiao on Monday.

At around 9:00 a.m., two rubber boats from the grounded Philippine ship LT-57 rapidly approached the CCG patrol boat, which was conducting routine patrols, in a dangerous manner and rammed it, despite repeated clear warnings, according to a CCG statement.

The Philippine side also maliciously struck Chinese law enforcement officers with oars, poles and other tools during the incident, the CCG said.

In response, the CCG took measures including verbal warnings, vessel maneuvers and reciprocal countermeasures to stabilize the situation, exercising maximum restraint and acting in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

After the incident, the Philippine side distorted facts and made false accusations against China, which the CCG said was a blatant reversal of right and wrong.

The CCG stressed that it will continue to carry out rights protection and law enforcement operations in accordance with the law in the Nansha Qundao, including Ren'ai Jiao, and adjacent waters, and firmly safeguard national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
