Trump adds new condition to signed Saudi civilian nuclear deal

U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday attached a new condition to the U.S.-Saudi civilian nuclear agreement signed one day earlier, saying that the deal will move forward only if Saudi Arabia normalizes relations with Israel through the Abraham Accords.

The deal "will be approved" but "is totally subject to Saudi Arabia joining the very respected and successful Abraham Accords," Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright and his Saudi counterpart signed the agreement on Wednesday, sparking criticism from Israel, and it is expected to face close scrutiny in Congress.

Trump also stressed that there will be "no enrichment" of nuclear material under the agreement.

During Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud's visit to the United States in November last year, Trump has strongly urged Saudi Arabia to join the Abraham Accords, but was rebuffed. Crown Prince Mohammed spoke bluntly that the war in the Gaza Strip has fueled intense anti-Israel sentiment within Saudi Arabia, and that normalization of relations with Israel was not acceptable.

The Abraham Accords, launched by Trump in his first term, led to the normalization agreements between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco in 2020. Trump has long expected an expansion of the accords. Saudi Arabia has so far resisted joining them.

The beautiful scenery and rich local customs of the Kanas Scenic Area in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region were highlighted in an episode of a five-part travel series produced by China Media Group (CMG).

The four hosts of the program began their journey by tasting the traditional breakfast of the Mongolian Tuvans in a wooden cabin. The Tuvan ethnic group in this area inhabit a village widely regarded as one of the most beautiful in China, located near Lake Kanas.

The Tuvan people still keep their old traditions, many of which pay tribute to nature. To experience their fascinating lifestyle, the hosts split into several groups, accompanied by local guides. One tried brewing milk wine and savored its rich flavor, while another went to the home of a large-scale beekeeper in Nilka County to harvest fresh honey at a local black bee breeding base.

A third host went to the Kanas grasslands to learn archery, which proved more difficult than the skilled guide made it look. The fourth visited a herdsman's home in Nilka County to enjoy a joyful, music-filled family gathering with singing and dancing.

The Kanas Scenic Area spans over 10,000 square kilometers and sits near the borders of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia. In addition to the Tuvan villages, it is also a popular destination known for its breathtaking grasslands and snowtopped mountains.
