China is ready to further expand healthy and stable economic and trade cooperation with Brazil, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a regular press briefing in Beijing on Friday.

Lin made the remarks in response to a media query regarding Brazil's export quota of beef to China.

"The competent Chinese authorities and chambers of commerce have stated their position on initiating safeguard investigations into imported beef. China has been Brazil's largest trading partner for 17 consecutive years. In the first half of this year, trade between the two countries increased by nearly 30 percent year on year, and Brazil's exports to China accounted for over 30 percent of the country's total. China is ready to maintain communication with all relevant parties, including Brazil, and further expand healthy and stable economic and trade cooperation," said Lin.
