CPC leadership holds symposium to seek advice on economic work

The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee has held a symposium with non-CPC personages to seek opinions and suggestions on the country's current economic situation and economic work for the second half of the year.

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the symposium and delivered an important speech on July 24.

Entrusted by the CPC Central Committee, Li Qiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, briefed on the economic work in the first half of the year, and considerations regarding the work in the second half.

Non-CPC personages at the symposium expressed their agreement with the CPC Central Committee's analysis and judgment of the current economic situation and its considerations for economic work in the second half of the year.

Xi said in his speech that under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee, China's economy effectively responded to internal and external risks and challenges in the first half of the year, demonstrating great resilience and vitality.

For economic work in the second half of the year, Xi stressed, it is imperative to enhance macro-policy effectiveness, tap the potential of domestic demand, promote in-depth integration of scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation, deepen reform comprehensively, expand high-level opening up, effectively guarantee and improve the people's livelihood, and continue to address risks in key areas.

Xi also expressed gratitude to the central committees of the other parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), and personages without party affiliation for their efforts to firmly implement the CPC Central Committee's decisions and arrangements, actively make suggestions about key issues on economic and social development, and offer important references to the Communist Party and the government to scientifically make decisions in the first half of the year.

Xi also called on these parties, the ACFIC and personages without party affiliation to correspond with the CPC Central Committee's decisions and arrangements for economic work in both thoughts and actions, contribute to steady economic development with targeted suggestions based on deep research, and popularize the CPC's innovative theories among their members and others to create a good environment for high-quality development.
