Tokyo stocks ended higher Tuesday on buybacks of artificial intelligence- and semiconductor-related shares.

The benchmark Nikkei stock index, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, ended up 202.63 points, or 0.32 percent, from Monday at 63,957.53.

The broader Topix index, meanwhile, finished 1.75 points, or 0.04 percent, higher at 3,961.78.

Stocks declined in the morning amid lingering wariness over further yen-buying following a joint intervention by Japan and the United States last week, but rebounded in the afternoon as investors bought back shares sold on concerns over the stronger yen, analysts said.

China on Tuesday launched the 23rd group of satellites for its low-Earth-orbit satellite internet constellation from the Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site in Wenchang, south China's Hainan Province.

A Long March-8A carrier rocket lifted off at 16:52 Beijing time and placed the satellites into their designated orbit.

The mission was a full-system validation flight following performance upgrades to the Long March-8A. The upgrades increased the rocket's payload capacity, supporting future frequent launches of large batches of satellites for constellation deployment.
