The 24th Chinese Peacekeeping Contingent to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) recently passed with excellent performance the military capability assessment conducted by the UNIFIL headquarters.
All three units, including a multi-functional engineering unit, a construction engineering unit, and a medical unit, have successively undergone the assessment.
The assessment was divided into two main categories, function and mission, with rigorous standards covering all aspects of peacekeeping operations.
Since the full deployment in December 2025, under the unified command of the peacekeeping headquarters, the three units have cleared 825 square meters of minefields, destroyed 146 land mines and marked 27 items of unexploded ordnance.
They have completed 18 annual tasks including road repairs and infrastructure projects in the mission area, as well as 75 temporary tasks.
The medical unit has treated over 1,900 peacekeepers and local residents, while regularly conducting humanitarian outreach clinics to provide medical services to the local population.
