As military operations become increasingly distributed across the Indo-Pacific and other contested environments, the ability to rapidly produce approved replacement parts closer to where they are needed is becoming a critical readiness advantage. Rather than waiting for parts to move through lengthy and potentially contested logistics networks, digital manufacturing enables forces to restore equipment faster, reduce vehicle downtime, and sustain operations when traditional supply chains are challenged.

During Valiant Shield 2026, Oshkosh Defense supported MDMC and authorized manufacturer MadeHere in securely manufacturing an approved LVSR replacement part in Japan using the AdvMFG Hub Digital Sustainment Platform (DSP), a secure repository of approved digital part files that enables authorized users to manufacture replacement parts while allowing Oshkosh Defense to retain ownership of its intellectual property. The exercise also included production of the same approved replacement part at MDMC in Albany, Georgia, demonstrating how a common, secure digital manufacturing ecosystem can produce identical, configuration-controlled components across geographically dispersed locations.

Producing approved replacement parts at the point of need reduces reliance on long-distance transportation, shortens repair timelines, and increases operational resilience by enabling maintainers to restore vehicles to service without waiting for conventional supply chains.

The demonstration highlights how secure, configuration-controlled digital manufacturing enables rapid production of mission-critical, obsolete, or long-lead replacement parts while maintaining strict quality standards and intellectual property protection. By producing approved replacement parts at or near the point of need, the Marine Corps can reduce equipment downtime, improve operational readiness, strengthen supply chain resilience, and keep critical assets mission-ready in distributed and contested environments.
