Humanoid robots test hospitality skills at 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing

The hotel scenario contest of the second World Humanoid Robot Games officially kicked off in Beijing on Sunday, challenging humanoid robots to complete a series of guest service assignments that rigorously test the coordination of their vision, computing and manipulator systems.

Set in realistic hotel environments, the hotel scenario contest brings together over ten competing robot teams. Within 30 minutes, robots must complete three sequential tasks: luggage transportation, guest room restocking, and housekeeping.

Specific assignments include handling suitcases of different sizes, delivering bottled water and slippers, and arranging bed sheets.

"Judges will deliver comprehensive evaluations based on the number of successfully finished tasks, any collisions during operation and the smoothness of robot movements," said Li Ziye, person in charge of the contest.

Teams can select either fully autonomous mode or remote operation for their robots. To encourage autonomous technology, organizers rule that teams using remote control can earn no more than half the total points available for each task.

"Luggage transportation comes first in the sequential tasks. Despite feedback from teams about its difficulty, the task remains on the competition agenda. Through the testing and screening provided by competitions, the commercial implementation and supporting infrastructure of these industries are compelled to advance. This pressure will show whether robots can achieve better performance," said Li.

Guests attending the launch event for the documentary said the Azerbaijani version of the documentary holds significant importance, as it is an excellent example of cultural dialogue between China and Azerbaijan, generating extensive resonance between the two countries in terms of protecting and inheriting outstanding historical and cultural heritage.

At the event, CMG also introduced a number of its programs to Azerbaijan Television, a state-controlled national television station in Azerbaijan, including China Flash Forward, Chinese Craftsmanship, Song of the Yellow River, Herbal Legacy, The Wisdom of Wellness, and Wok This Way, which aroused great interest among the guests present.
