China's Ministry of Commerce on Thursday updated anti-dumping duty rates for two Daicel companies, following an internal business restructuring, under measures on imports of polyformaldehyde copolymer, also known as POM Copolymer, originating in the United States, the European Union, China's Taiwan region, and Japan.
According to a statement on the ministry's website, Daicel Corporation will inherit the 35.5 percent anti-dumping duty rate and associated rights and obligations previously assigned to Polyplastics Co., Ltd. under existing anti-dumping measures for polyformaldehyde copolymer.
Daicel Hpp Taiwan Co., Ltd. will take on the 3.8 percent anti-dumping duty rate and associated rights and obligations that was applicable to Polyplastics Taiwan Co., Ltd. under the same measures.
The statement also notes that polyformaldehyde copolymer exported to China under the name of Polyplastics Co. will incur the 35.5 percent anti-dumping duty applicable to "other Japanese companies."
Polyformaldehyde copolymer exported to the Chinese mainland under the name of Polyplastics Taiwan Co., Ltd. will face a 32.6 percent anti-dumping duty rate applicable to "other companies in the Taiwan region."
These changes will take effect from Friday, the statement says.
This update follows China's enforcement of anti-dumping duties on imports of polyformaldehyde copolymer originating in the United States, the European Union, China's Taiwan region, and Japan in May 2025, which were set for a duration of five years. At that time, the duties were established at 35.5 percent for Polyplastics Co., Ltd. and 3.8 percent for Polyplastics Taiwan Co., Ltd.
The companies submitted applications and supporting documents to the ministry after their internal restructuring, resulting in the latest adjustments to the duty rates and related obligations.
Polyformaldehyde copolymer is primarily used in sectors including auto parts, electronic appliances, industrial machinery, sports equipment and medical equipment to partially replace copper, zinc, tin, lead and other metal materials.
