Chinese shares close higher Thursday

Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.24 percent to 3,903.72 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.59 percent higher at 13,972.78 points.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.64 percent to close at 3,495.59 points Thursday.

The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 0.20 percent higher at 1,957.92 points.

Hong Kong's stock market ended higher Thursday with the benchmark Hang Seng Index up 0.80 percent to close at 25,698.49 points.

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 0.90 percent to 8,547.84 points, while the Hang Seng Tech Index increased by 0.39 percent to 4,700.53 points.
