Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.59 percent to 3,882.01 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.13 percent lower at 13,794.29 points.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 3.21 percent to close at 3,431.89 points.
The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 3.10 percent lower at 1,896.16 points.
Chinese shares close lower Monday
Chinese President Xi Jinping and visiting King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein will attend a signing ceremony of cooperation documents in Beijing on Monday.
The ceremony will be held at the Great Hall of the People following the talks between President Xi and King Abdullah II.
At the invitation of Xi, King Abdullah II is paying a state visit to China from August 18 to 24. This visit marks King Abdullah II's ninth visit to China since his accession to the throne.
