A new round of talks between Israel and Lebanon, originally set for next week, has been pushed back to October, a senior U.S. official said Friday.
Instead of the planned talks in Rome, the Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors to the United States will meet at the State Department in Washington to discuss the recent developments and the implementation of the framework agreement between the two countries, the official said.
The next round of formal negotiations between the two countries will take place in Rome in October, the official added.
According to a source familiar with the matter, due to scheduling during the Jewish holidays, a conference to strengthen the capabilities of the Lebanese military to be held in Paris next week, and preparations related to the United Nations General Assembly, the parties involved in the negotiations are unable to hold talks in Rome next week as originally planned.

The shipment includes diesel generators, medical protective masks, mortuary cabinets, DNA testing equipment and reagents, water rescue equipment and other items, which are expected to provide support for Nepal's follow-up operations in the country's mudslide-affected areas.
A fast-moving chain mudslide, triggered by a high-altitude glacier collapse in Nepal, struck the China-Nepal border on Aug. 26, causing heavy casualties and leaving many missing.
The death toll from the devastating mudslide in Nepal had climbed to 1,385 as of 11:00 local time on Friday, according to the latest figures from Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.
Another 5,130 people are still unaccounted for, the data showed.
