New sports technologies, products shown at China's 2026 international trade fair

The 2026 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) sheds spotlight on new sports technologies and products, attracting visitors to try the latest advancements in sports.

The five-day fair opened on Wednesday, attracting participants from 90 countries, regions and international organizations, with more than 1,800 companies exhibiting on site.

This year's CIFTIS welcomed crowds Saturday as its public open day that kicked off at Shougang Park in Beijing, drawing visitors with free reservations and hands‑on access to the latest global service trade innovations.

Exhibitors in the sports industry are taking advantage of the international exhibition to showcase their new projects. Among them is laser shooting, which has been introduced into more than 2,000 schools across China and is drawing many visitors to try it out at the sports services thematic exhibition during the 2026 CIFTIS.

"I think it's quite fun. In the future, maybe in daily life, I could also play this kind of competitive sports match with friends, especially team-building activities. I think it's pretty enjoyable to play," said a visitor.

"Currently, more than 2,000 schools across the country have introduced laser shooting into their campuses, which can make the sport of shooting fully accessible to the public. We have already held 26 offline tour events," said Chen Jiping, product manager of Beijing Succeeder Technology Inc.

At another booth, a professional smart table tennis training system capable of real-time monitoring of athletes' performance data also drew many visitors to try it out.

Through 10 high-speed cameras on site, the system can monitor various pieces of information in real time, including ball speed, the height of the serve and the angle of serve.

"This system has been used in all events of WTT (World Table Tennis) Grand Smash and Finals in 2025 and 2026. Our training system also includes some fun challenge programs, such as serve accuracy, where we can designate the target area for the serve. This time, we have also set up this system at the CIFTIS for the first time globally, so that everyone can experience a kind of fun that they normally wouldn't be able to feel," said Bian Weiwei, a staff member at Beijing Rigour Technology Co., Ltd.

The China Mining Conference and Exhibition 2026 wrapped up in Tianjin on Saturday, generating 300 million yuan (about 44.72 million U.S. dollars) in signed deals.

Participants came from 60 countries and international organizations, a record high in the event's 28-year history. For the first time, the conference featured a mining rights trading section, which produced strong results.

During the event, negotiations were conducted on 13 major projects, preliminary cooperation intentions reached on 11 projects, while agreements were signed on 28 projects on site, along with three memorandums of understanding and one cooperation agreement signed.

Themed on "Win-Win Cooperation, Green and Intelligent Development," the event gathered delegations from more than 600 domestic and international companies. Field geological survey equipment and intelligent sampling robots emerged as star attractions among all exhibits, drawing global officials and visitors.

"I think it's something very new and I'm very interested. I wanted to see how they actually do it and wanted to learn from China," said Chin Wei Keh, permanent secretary at Brunei's Ministry of Development.

The conference also drew companies committed to long-term engagement. The was the fifth time for exhibitor Alexander to attend the event, while his company has participated for 20 consecutive years.

"This is the group of us last year. We are very proud to have our clients, our friends. At least half of the booth here are our friends," he said.

Thin's company now has branches in Beijing, Jiangxi and Yunnan of China, and has helped hundreds of Chinese mining firms expand overseas.

Another exhibitor noted that Chinese products have become commonplace in his country's mining sector.

"We have electric trucks in South Africa now, from the Chinese company. It's getting a lot more greener and a lot more smarter. Of course, we will always be open to work with Chinese companies," said Mbulelo Clive Khoza, exhibitor from South Africa.
