China's self-developed AI supercluster is able to deliver high-resolution global weather forecasting fast and precise, the country's core node of the national supercomputing network announced on Tuesday.
The new model, known as MCV (multi-moment constrained finite-volume), was deployed on the Sugon 8000 (Dengfeng), China's first fully domestically produced 100,000-card AI supercluster and the core node of the national supercomputing network, a comprehensive computing power service platform based in Zhengzhou, central China's Henan Province.
The MCV model performed a 10-day global forecast at a 5-kilometer resolution within one hour, meeting international operational benchmarks.
The research team has also completed a global simulation test at a 3-kilometer resolution, providing early-stage validation for the continued evolution of China's next-generation atmospheric modeling capabilities.
