Adtran showcases open optical networking for AI infrastructure at OIF’s ECOC 2026 interop demo

Adtran today announced its participation in OIF’s live multi-vendor interoperability demo at ECOC 2026, taking place September 21 to 23 in Málaga, Spain. Bringing together 39 member companies, the showcase highlights interoperable optical transport, pluggable coherent transceivers and network control technologies in a multi-vendor environment. Adtran is contributing 100Gbit/s, 400Gbit/s and 800Gbit/s ZR+ pluggables, its FSP 3000 open line system (OLS) operating across C- and L-bands and Mosaic Network Controller software. Ahead of the event, Adtran also hosted the OIF test run in Gdynia, Poland, supporting interoperability testing across participating companies.

The OIF showcase features Adtran’s pluggable CMIS-managed coherent ZR+ transceivers delivering 100Gbit/s, 400Gbit/s and 800Gbit/s with 0dBm output power. Adtran’s FSP 3000 OLS provides open optical transport across both C- and L-bands, while Mosaic Network Controller acts as the OLS domain controller within the demo’s hierarchical control architecture, integrating with higher-layer multi-vendor orchestrators. By bringing coherent interfaces, OLS technology and software control together, the showcase highlights interoperability across multiple network layers. Ahead of ECOC, Adtran hosted the OIF test run in Gdynia, enabling participating companies to validate interoperability, test integrations and prepare for the live demo.

Adtran’s technology will help show how interoperable networks can meet AI’s surging capacity demands at OIF’s ECOC 2026 demo.

STOCKHOLM (AP) — Sweden’s left-leaning opposition won a narrow majority in the country’s national election, a complete vote count showed Thursday.

The Swedish Election Authority said the four opposition parties won 176 seats in the 349-seat parliament in Stockholm, the Riksdag, in Sunday’s election. The four parties that make up or support the outgoing conservative-led government took 173 seats.

Shortly after the final results were announced, center-right Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said he would resign as the head of government in a letter to the parliament's speaker posted on X.

Former Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson’s center-left Social Democrats finished as the biggest single party with 99 seats, despite losing eight seats compared with the last election in 2022. She will still face a complicated task to turn the result into a government because of tensions within the left-leaning bloc.

The opposition’s small lead initially was uncertain but was confirmed after early votes that didn’t arrive at polling stations by Election Day, including overseas ballots, were counted.

Kristersson has led Sweden with a three-party, center-right coalition. The parliamentary majority relied on outside support from the Sweden Democrats, an anti-immigration party that has far-right roots but has moved toward the political mainstream.

Kristersson had held out the prospect of Cabinet seats for the Sweden Democrats this time, if the governing coalition won. However, it was a disappointing election for the Sweden Democrats, who dropped into third place behind the outgoing prime minister's Moderates and took 62 seats, 11 fewer than four years ago.

Andersson faces the task of overcoming differences in the opposition bloc. The Center Party, which aligned with the left because it does not wish to govern with the Sweden Democrats, also doesn’t want to go into government with the Left Party at the other end of the spectrum.

Any combinations across the traditional right-left division would also be complicated.
