China's autumn grain harvest is expected to be bountiful, with corn output poised for a bumper crop, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

In Tongliao City, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, fluctuating temperatures have recently raised farmers' concerns that low temperatures and early frost could cut corn yields, prompting some to harvest early. A team of agricultural experts has been dispatched to guide farmers through the final round of water and fertilizer management before harvest, ensuring full grain filling and safe maturity of the corn crop.

In Bozhou City, east China's Anhui Province, more than 4,000,000 mu (about 266,666 hectares) of corn have entered the late grain-filling stage. Local authorities have deployed over 400 agricultural technicians to villages in groups, going to the fields to guide the implementation of the "one spray, multiple promotions" technique to help increase production.

"Field surveys show that some of our plots have been affected by rust disease and corn borers. For these plots, we need to carry out pest and disease control while spraying foliar fertilizer to increase corn kernel weight," said Li Yunchao, director of the local agricultural technology extension service center.

"One spray, multiple promotions" refers to the mixed spraying of foliar fertilizers, regulators, stress-resistance agents, and insecticides and fungicides. A single application can achieve multiple effects, including promoting grain growth, grain filling and maturity, post-disaster recovery, and yield increases. It is a key technique in autumn grain field management. Under the guidance of technicians, major grain grower Jiao Rui promptly carried out pest and disease control while promoting corn grain filling and increasing yields.

"I have more than 1,000 mu (about 66 hectares) of corn, and it only takes me half a day to carry out pest and disease prevention work to ensure high yields and a bumper autumn grain harvest," said Jiao.

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement on Monday that it has prepared itself for a long-term conflict with the United States and its allies.

The statement quoted IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebbi as saying that if it comes under another "invasion", Iran will introduce new weapons with new capabilities into the fray, in addition to expanding the scope of conflict.

Mohebbi stressed that Iran's policy is to maintain good-neighborly and friendly relations with countries in the region. Iran's missile strikes target only U.S. military equipment and bases, and pose no threat to neighboring countries.

On Feb. 28, Israel and the United States launched joint attacks on Iran's capital Tehran and other cities. Iran has since tightened its grip on the Strait of Hormuz.

On June 18, the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on ending the war in the region on all fronts, including Lebanon.

Under the MoU, they were scheduled to hold negotiations within 60 days, a deadline that expired on Aug. 17, to reach a final agreement, but the talks' fate remains unclear amid recent escalations.
