Hong Kong's stock market ended lower Tuesday with the benchmark Hang Seng Index down 0.48 percent to close at 24,523.57 points.
The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index slid 0.46 percent to 8,178.81 points, and the Hang Seng Tech Index shed 1.08 percent to 4,249.62 points.
Hong Kong stocks close lower
Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.18 percent to 3,830.45 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.34 percent higher at 12,901.95 points.
Turnover of stocks covered by these two indices totaled about 1.41 trillion yuan (around 209.16 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.7 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares in the electronic components, batteries and real estate sectors led the gains, while those related to lab-grown diamonds, genetically modified organisms and corn were among the biggest decliners.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.09 percent on Tuesday to close at 3,142.56 points.
The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 0.69 percent higher at 1,848.72 points on Tuesday.
