China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) has celebrated the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China with numerous events including a fireworks show and a gala.
The fireworks display was held over the waters off the Macao Tower on Thursday evening, National Day, illuminating the night sky.
Residents and tourists gathered beneath the dazzling spectacle to celebrate the anniversary, soaking in the vibrant, festive atmosphere of National Day in Macao.
The Macao SAR government also joined hands with local civic organizations to host a gala in mid-September marking the event, featuring performances that reflected Macao people's love for the motherland.
"This is my fourth time participating in the 'singing in unison for Motherland' gala. I am truly honored to perform the original Macao song 'Starlight of Macao' this year. I hope to express my deepest feelings through music and pay tribute to our great motherland," said Fan Yajing, one of the performers.
"We hope to use the song 'Ode to the Red Flag' to inspire more young people in Macao, helping them understand that a peaceful and happy life is hard-won. We also want to ensure that the spirit of patriotism is passed down from generation to generation on Macao's soil, enduring forever," said Raymond Chan Wai-man, vice president of the Council for the Chinese Educators Association of Macao.
