China on Monday called on the international community to work together to combat and eradicate terrorist forces, including the Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM). Speaking at a counter-terrorism event of the Sixth Committee of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations Sun Lei said that China actively advocates a joint response to the global challenge of terrorism, and maintains that it is important to uphold unified standards and build consensus on counter-terrorism; adopt a comprehensive approach and enhance the effectiveness of counter-terrorism, and uphold multilateralism and form synergy in counter-terrorism.

"At present, terrorist attacks occur frequently around the world. Terrorist activities using new technologies such as the internet, drones, and artificial intelligence become commonplace, rendering the international counter-terrorism situation even more severe. Terrorism is the common enemy of human society, and no country can stand alone in face of the threat of terrorism," said Sun.

China supports advancing the formulation of a comprehensive convention on combating international terrorism, and firmly opposes the politicization and instrumentalization of counter-terrorism, opposes double standards and selective counter-terrorism, and opposes interference in other countries' internal affairs under the pretext of counter-terrorism, Sun said.

China has always been an important participant in and a contributor to the international counter-terrorism cause, and is ready to continue working with all parties to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, he said.

Türkiye's annual inflation eased to 29.73 percent in September, marking a fourth straight month of slowing price growth, the Turkish Statistical Institute said Monday.

Consumer prices rose 1.84 percent from August, less than expected due to easing food prices, according to official data. Annual inflation stood at 31.51 percent in August.

Türkiye, an energy importer, has struggled with soaring inflation in recent years, although the rate has fallen substantially from its peak at 85.5 percent in late 2022 and around 70 percent in May 2024.

Last month, the government revised down its economic targets for the next three years, citing conflicts in the Middle East and flying energy prices.

Policymakers have raised this year's inflation outlook to 28.4 percent from 16 percent and cut the economic growth target to 3.3 percent from 3.8 percent.
