Dialogue and negotiation are the only viable way out of the Ukraine crisis, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a press briefing in Beijing on Monday.
Mao made the remarks at a regular press briefing in response to a media query about Russia-Ukraine "energy ceasefire" announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.
"China's position on the Ukraine crisis is consistent and clear. We always hold that dialogue and negotiation are the only viable way out of the crisis, and we support all efforts conducive to the peaceful settlement of the crisis," said Mao.
Trump said Sunday that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to an immediate "energy ceasefire."
"Effective immediately," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, adding that "both parties have agreed."
