More than 320 delegates from 62 countries and international organizations gathered in Beijing on Tuesday for the opening of the Great Wall-2026 International Forum on Counter-Terrorism, seeking to strengthen international cooperation.

Hosted by the Chinese People's Armed Police Force (PAP), the three-day forum runs from October 13 to 15 under the theme "Advancing Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Jointly Safeguarding Our Beautiful Home."

The forum features four main topics: emerging terrorist threats and counterterrorism capabilities involving unmanned systems and artificial intelligence, preventing and combating maritime terrorism, protecting key targets against terrorist attacks, and countering terrorist infiltration in border areas.

"The forum focuses on advancing practical counter-terrorism cooperation in the context of AI development. We have set up high-level, professional and thematic forums, which can be seen as discussions at the strategic, operational and tactical levels. Centering around the changes of our times, our adversaries and the technology, we aim to track the impact of AI technology on combating and preventing terrorism, and to focus on enhancing our counter-terrorism capabilities and advancing global counter-terrorism cooperation. These are the focal points and key innovations of this forum," said Peng Jijun, secretary-general of the organizing committee of the Great Wall-2026 International Forum on Counter-Terrorism.

Participants will also observe counterterrorism training and unmanned equipment demonstrations, and attend a military band concert on the sidelines of the forum.

"The forum provides us with a very good platform for exchanges. Modern security challenges are very complex and transnational, requiring experts to jointly explore solutions. The Great Wall-2026 International Forum on Counter-Terrorism is a really good platform for communication," said Anzor Chubinidze, head of the Special State Protection Service of Georgia.

The forum is part of China's efforts to expand international exchanges and practical cooperation in counterterrorism. Since 2016, the PAP has held five previous editions of the Great Wall International Forum on Counter-Terrorism.
