People working in the computing power sector have been deeply inspired by Chinese President Xi Jinping's inspection to Ulanqab in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, vowing to contribute further to the building of Digital China and the development of new quality productive forces.

Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, visited Chahar High Tech Development Zone in Ulanqab, and learned about Inner Mongolia's progress in advancing the construction of a hub for the East Data-West Computing project and the development of the green computing power industry.

"The General Secretary came to Ulanqab City today to inspect the development of the computing power industry. I reported to the general secretary on the development situation of Ulanqab's computing power industry. He cares greatly about us and attaches great importance to the development of the industry," said Guo Xiaoling, director of Ulanqab Big Data Administration.

"Today the General Secretary came to Beijing-Inner Mongolia Talent Science and Technology Innovation Park to learn about the basic situation of the development of computing power in Ulanqab, the water-saving and energy-saving measures during the implementation of computing power projects, and the local conversion of wind and solar resources. The general secretary's inspection has inspired me tremendously. We must plan in a scientific and orderly manner, and take water and energy conservation into consideration to enable the new quality productive forces to take root in Ulanqab," said Liu Junping, deputy director of the Management Committee of Chahar High Tech Development Zone.

During the inspection, Xi called on all parties to earnestly implement the requirements for efficient, green and safe development, actively promote the development of the green computing power industry, and make greater contributions to building Digital China and developing new quality productive forces.

"From the perspective of developing new quality productive forces, Ulanqab is pursuing a path of local consumption of green electricity and computing power-electricity synergy in the development of data industry and the energy sector. What computing power needs most is electricity. Ulanqab leverages its abundant wind and solar resources and new energy to support the development of the computing power industry, thereby forming green and intelligent computing power," said Wuriluge, deputy director of the Economic Development and Investment Promotion Bureau of Chahar High-Tech Zone.

Ulanqab, leveraging its cool climate, abundant green electricity and proximity to Beijing with low latency, is stepping up efforts to expand its green computing industry.

So far, over 100 computing power projects have been signed in Ulanqab, with a rack scale exceeding 7 million. From January to August this year, the city achieved a revenue of 5.68 billion yuan (about 849.5 million U.S. dollars), representing a year-on-year growth of 40.3 percent.

"As one of the earliest companies to build data center in Ulanqab, our data center went into operation in 2021. At present, it provides AI computing power to many large model companies of China. Therefore, we will further increase research and development investment in accordance with the general secretary's requirements, improve the application and adaptation of domestic chips and domestic models, and make greater contributions to the development of China's AI industry," said Liu Jie, general manager of UCloud Ulanqab Computing Power Center.

"I came to Ulanqab in 2025. Initially I was attracted by the East Data-West Computing strategy and Ulanqab's unique advantages in green computing power. Over the past year, I have participated with the company in advancing local projects. I find the whole city is full of vigor, which is highly motivating," said Geng Xu, a staff member of China International Capital Corporation (CICC) Data Ulanqab Company.

Following Xi's visit, people in the sector have pledged greater efforts to promote the integration of green electricity, computing power and data, expand application scenarios and cultivate talent, vowing to better implement the East Data-West Computing project and help build a national integrated computing power network with Ulanqab as a key node.

"The general secretary mentioned two points. First, the temperature here in Ulanqab is very low; second, wind and solar power resources are very abundant. These conditions are highly favorable for the development of computing power centers. In terms of computing power-electricity synergy, we have leveraged the local advantages of wind and solar power to establish a project integrating power sources, grids, loads and energy storage. Through direct connection of green power, we achieve dynamic matching between computing power and electricity supply. We have also cooperated with major local universities to establish training centers to supply outstanding operation and maintenance talent for the area," said Huang Mingzhuo, deputy director of ZDATA Ulanqab Computing Power Center.

"We will keep firmly in mind the General Secretary's instructions, fully leverage our comparative advantages, and vigorously develop our green computing power industry. We will continue to accelerate the pace of computing power-electricity synergy, extend the computing power industrial chain, enrich and expand application scenarios, and spare no effort to build a green computing power base that serves the whole country," said Guo.

China's top political advisor Wang Huning has stressed the need to pool strength for development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030) and to advance Chinese modernization.

Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remarks during an inspection tour in Chengdu, Deyang and the Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in southwest China's Sichuan Province from Oct. 13 to 16.

He urged solid efforts to forge a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, while making systematic efforts to ensure that religions in China are Chinese in orientation and establishing a more solid legal footing for the governance of religious affairs.

Wang stressed advancing the implementation of the Ethnic Unity and Progress Promotion Law, upholding the rule of law in both thinking and practice to handle ethnic affairs, and safeguarding ethnic unity in accordance with the law.

Wang called for upholding the CPC's overall leadership over the CPPCC and giving play to the CPPCC's role as a specialized consultative body. He also stressed solid efforts to conduct political consultation, democratic oversight, and participation in and deliberation of state affairs.
