The great Long March spirit has always inspired the Chinese people to overcome difficulties and make remarkable achievements, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a press briefing in Beijing on Tuesday.
Mao made the remarks in response to a question about Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova's comments on China's development achievements, comparing the efforts to build a community with a shared future for humanity and advance the Belt and Road Initiative to a new Long March, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army's Long March.
"The great Long March spirit has always inspired the Chinese people to overcome difficulties and make remarkable development achievements. On the new Long March towards the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, China will uphold the independent foreign policy of peace, and work with Russia and other countries in solidarity to promote peace and development and jointly build a community with a shared future for humanity," she said.
