The upcoming 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) welcomed the first batch of exhibits to the venue floors on Tuesday, with booth setup underway to showcase high-end machinery imported from overseas.
The 9th CIIE is scheduled to take place from Nov. 5 to Nov. 10 in Shanghai. A total of 162 countries, regions and international organizations will take part, with 4,142 overseas companies exhibiting. The overall exhibition area for companies will exceed 370,000 square meters for the first time.
On Tuesday morning, a truck carrying a high-end, multifunctional machining console from Austrian company WFL Millturn Technologies entered the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), the main venue for the CIIE.
The latest model of the Millturn series features an integrated turn-mill architecture that combines turning, milling, drilling and grinding into a single machine. This design significantly improves processing efficiency while ensuring high precision.
"The equipment on display is the latest model produced by the company and will make its Asian debut. It was transported overland from Linz in Austria to Hamburg by land, and then shipped by sea to Shanghai, China. The streamlined customs and port clearance services significantly shortened our logistics time," said Zheng Xiaoli, the on-site manager of he company.
As preparations intensify, police have been conducting patrols inside the venue to ensure the safety of personnel and the setup process.
"We have deployed police officers to conduct regular patrols inside the exhibition area, with a focus on inspecting the safety of booth construction, workers' proper use of protective gear, and the stacking of materials. These patrols and checks aim to ensure that the entire setup period and the exhibition preparation process remain safe and orderly," said Li Lei, deputy chief of the National Exhibition and Convention Center Public Security Substation of Qingpu Public Security Branch.
Public security officers have also developed a plan for the movement of transport vehicles and deployed additional personnel for traffic direction in the surrounding areas of the venue to maintain orderly traffic flow for trucks.
Launched in 2018 as the world's first national-level expo dedicated to imports, the CIIE was designed to expand China's opening-up and turn its vast market into a shared opportunity for the world.
